Looking for a ride in the Pacific Northwest

Looking for a ride in the Pacific Northwest. I'm 69 and would like to take a couple of spins around a body of water to see if I could comfortably hand one of these. I have racing experience and have owned dingies and small monohulls.

Dry-docking a Weta

I bought a Weta (#1297) late last year and am planning to store it on my dock on a lake in upstate NY. There is not spot for beach storage and launching. I don’t want the Weta to be in the water when not in use, so I’m looking for ideas or designs for dry docking the Weta. One option is a JetSki drive-up dock and attach it to the existing dock. Another option is to make a hinged, wood dock section with sufficient flotation for the Weta to be dry when puled up.

Has anyone seen or heard of something like this arrangement? And photos or designs available?

Thank you

Tony

I can't find any good pictures of it, but the Stanford sailing center in Redwood City has a mix of drive-on docks for chase boats paired with low wooden docks with rollers, carpet, and cradles for their 420s. It's pretty slick. The peak waves there are smaller than Seneca Lake on a big day, but otherwise similar to the Finger Lakes.

Weta Trailer Options

I know Road King offers two variants of Weta Trailers for skinny and fat tires. Is there another manufacturer available for this style of trailer?

And, is anyone using a modified flatbed-type trailer? I remember seeing someone out west building a small flat bed trailer.

I currently have a RK with the skinny tire setup and looking to upgrade to fat wheels because of soft sand in Florida. Please post pics if you have them!

Thanks! Bob

After I choked on the price of a new delivered galvanized RK Weta trailer, I approached Trailex on an aluminum trailer and found out they had a configuration that works. It’s slightly more expensive than the RK but it will have 12” wheels/tires and be a lot lighter. I should have it by Meigs this year.

Weta insurance

Greetings I’m a new vintage Weta owner (#165) and am looking for recommendations on insurance options. I use BoatUS/Geico for my other sailboat but just learned that they no longer insure multi hulls. So now I’m looking for other possibilities.

Any thoughts?
