Clermont Multihull Regatta March 6-8 2026

Hello Weta Sailors,

I had the only Weta at the Clermont (just West of Orlando) Multihull Regatta. Single handed boats $100, double handed $150 mostly Hobie 16's, Hobie Waves, one A Cat and my Weta.  I saw some familiar faces from the Bluster on the Bay Regatta. We had 3 days of racing, Friday, Sat., & Sun with winds as low as 5 knots and gusts as high as 12 knots, with wind shifts as large as 30 degrees. Air temps in the high 80's and water temp around 75 to 80 all three days. On Friday and Saturday the wind increased right after we came in from racing, to around 18 knots. I only raced Friday and Sunday. On Saturday I gave demo rides all day on my Weta. There was no use in tacking on the header as the wind shifted back the other way before you could complete your tack. The racing was on Lake Minneola which was about 3 miles in diameter, and 20 feet deep in most places. Adam Atherton of the Clermont Multihull Association, Hobie Division 8, and Hobie Fleet 352, put on a great regatta. RV & Tent camping were available at Paradise Air Sports, about a 10 minute drive from the regatta site. I tent camped next to the small lake on the property, Thursday through Sunday nights, $25 per night. Monday AM, Paradise Air Sports took me up in their hang glider for spectacular 20 minute ride Monday morning before I drove back to Tallahassee. The regatta was very well organized, and the Race Committee was very professional. I want to do it again, I hope we will have some more Weta's next year.

Rick, thanks for sharing your experience for this event. Sounds like a nice venue and it is always good when they run good races. I'll look forward to increasing our showing next year.
