Overview

The Ithaca Yacht Club hosted its annual late-summer multihull gathering along the western shore of Cayuga Lake. Bringing together a fleet of five Weta trimarans and four catamarans, the weekend offered destination sailing, relaxed fleet social events, and stellar conditions on the water.  A special thanks to Liz, Ranjit, and Keith from Ithaca Yacht Club for their outstanding hospitality.

Event Highlights

Day 1: Friday, August 21 – Arrival & Setup

• Arrival & Camp Setup: Participants arrived Friday afternoon to unhook trailers, set up Wetas and catamarans in the boat staging area, and set up tents for the evening stay.

• Evening Social: Sailors joined the IYC community for Friday night trivia starting at 7:00 PM, followed by informal dinner plans and planning for the weekend.

Day 2: Saturday, August 22 – Great Sailing Conditions

• Amazing Conditions: Saturday delivered amazing sailing conditions across Cayuga Lake. A steady 10-15 knot breeze allowed the fleet to zip across the water all day against the backdrop of the Finger Lakes hills only breaking for lunch.

• Destination Cruise & Lunch: The fleet sailed around the southern end of Cayuga and returned to the shore for a wonderful BBQ lunch hosted by Liz, Keith, and Ranjit.  After lunch, most of the sailors returned to the lake to enjoy the great breeze.

• Dinner: Fleet members gathered in the evening at The Glenwood Pines restaurant to share  stories from an exceptional day of sailing.

Day 3: Sunday, August 23 – South Lake Excursion & Departure

• Morning Sail: Fleet members gathered at 9:00 AM to organize a morning destination sail toward the south end of Cayuga Lake, visiting the waters off Stewart Park and the Cornell Sailing Center.
